Because the intuitive mind is a sacred gift.

Albert Einstein

Artist's Creed

by Jan Phillips

BELIEVE I am worth the time it takes to create whatever it is I am called to create.

I BELIEVE my work is worthy of its own space which is worthy of the name "Sacred".

I BELIEVE that when I enter this space I have the right to work in silence uninterrupted for as long as I choose.

I BELIEVE that when I open myself up to the gifts of the muse, I open myself up to the source of all creation.

I BELIEVE that my work is joyful, peaceful, and constantly changing, flowing thru me like a river with no beginning and no end.

I BELIEVE that what it is I am called to do will make itself known when I am ready.

I BELIEVE that the time I spend creating my art is as precious as the time I spend giving to others.

I BELIEVE that what truly matters in the making of art is not what the final piece looks like or sounds like, not what it is worth or not worth, but what newness gets added to the universe in the process of the piece becoming.

I BELIEVE that I am not alone in my attempts to create, and that once I begin the work, settle into the strangeness, the words will take shape, the form will find life, and the spirit will take flight.

I BELIEVE that as the muse gives to me, so does she deserve from me - faith, mindfulness, and enduring commitment.

The power within you is greater than

the problem in front of you.

I would love to live

Like a river flows

Carried by the surprise

Of its own unfolding

~  John O'Donohue

"You are not here to "fix" other people or mother earth. You are here to heal the deep wounds within your own being.

Please tend to this task and all else will fall into place without any effort on your part."

from the Jeshua Channelings

To a Piece of Paper

Here is the landscape of all possibility,

whiter than the obverse of ether.

Here is the window of a universe unborn,

where the mind’s fugitive seed

seeks a hidden orifice of Creation.

Here is the battlefield,

here is the scented bed;

here is the palace,

dazzling in its lack of plumage,

where something unknown

wants to live.

"Perception is a mirror not a fact. And what I look on is my state of mind, reflected outward."

- A Course In Miracles

"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."

Louise Erdrich
